Mike has me interested. I have a E32-200 and I'm about ready for more battery. If the golf cart batteries are in the existing battery box, where would the starter battery be located in the 32-200?
Update
Just thought I'd update this.
Couldn't find the utoggle or chainplate deck bolt anywhere, so I substituted a standard utoggle and Forced it to fit with a little bending.
Project done.
Now, if I can find the size of the mainsheet, I'm ready to replace that. Looks like 7/16"...
Any news
What has anyone found on this.
On another thread, I posted my rigging replacement adventure and even replacing the toggle has been a problem. The chainplate sounds just as bad.
Bent New Toggle
Since the new toggle fit the chainplate fitting when positioned parallel to the deck (over the chamfered top-bottom edges of the chainplate), I slid the toggle on and used a screwdriver to pry up from the bottom while my handy vicegrip turned the toggle upward in position...
Toggle - Chainplate Rod to Turnbuckle Eye
That link does point to the problem from the chain plate viewpoint.
This link refers to the toggle itself: http://www.ericsonyachts.org/infoexchange/showthread.php?t=4939&highlight=u-toggle
I talked with Furling and Rigging guys and they have no...
Almost Complete
Thanks for all the discussion and info.
I have replaced all the shrouds a pair at a time by removing, dropping at Svensens in Alameda, them duplicating, and me reinstalling.
As soon as I find u-toggle replacements for the aft lower shrouds to connect the chainplate deck...
Drilled the holes
Drilled the holes and wired the spreaders to the shrouds.
Installed spreader end covers.
Ready to go as soon as I find 2 u-toggle replacement fittings to connect the turnbuckles to the forward-lower chainplate fittings.
2nd-to-"sounds good"
Aegir seems to be on-track for her rigging replacement. Got to reinstall the forestay/roller furler and 4 lower shrouds.
July could be a great time and Clipper Cove sounds good.
Since we've not done one of these raft-ups, I don't know how long the event is likely to...
u-clamps
Just noticed a post by CaptDan that said: "best way to position tips to shrouds is with a pair of stainless cable u-clamps".
If my punch doesn't work, maybe this would be a better alternative than drilling (and maybe better than seizing wire?).
Anyone with opinions on this...
Holes' corrision tight
Got ONE hole open with a punch last week-end. Then I broke the punch.
I did end-up clipping the wire flush and spraying with penetrating oil.
Hopefully a new punch (and a spare) will do the trick when I make the trip up to attach the Harken foil with the new...
Looks like my rigging project is moving forward: the top port and starbord shrouds and hardware are replaced. The two new middle-stays and back-stay are ready for pick-up.
But, the seizing wires in the end of the spreaders won't budge. I bought some punches and also bought drill bits for my...
Zerks locations
Loren,
My Steering is *very* sticky and I saw your posts.
As I inspect the cable and parts, I suspect I will find loose and worn parts maybe need for new bushings.
I hate to say, but my '88 32-200's steering has not been touched.
I was down aft yesterday and saw 1 maybe 2...
316 Upgrade
316 stainless sounds important. So, upsizing is likely in order.
Originally I thought about upgrading to E34 rigging sizes, but I did notice that the headstay and intermediates were the same on bothe boats: 9/32" and 7/32" respectively. I guess I can increase the intermediates'...
