I grew up in Salem MA. As a young boy I was always around or on boats. My grandfather was a sailor and WWII merchant marine, my uncle was in the navy (1968-1974) both taught me much about life on the water.

I moved to the Caribbean when I was 19 years old (1985) and lived on St Thomas for 3 years sailing the Pillsbury sound almost daily between St Thomas and St John USVI with frequent trips to Tortola and Virgin Gorda BVI.

In 2007 I decided to get back into sailing. Without a boat I knew it would help to get certification
so that charter companies would rent me their boats. I chartered many sailboats from Pacific Sailing in Long Beach after getting certified from one of their instructors, Capt. Ray Magana (retired LBFD)

In 2008 I responded to a Craigslist ad for a non equity partnership in an Olson 40. During the 7 years I was on the Olson, I logged over 300 days on the water with with many trips to Two Harbors and Avalon, Catalina, Marina Del Rey, Dana Point, Santa Barbara Island and the Channel Islands.
