    calling all 36C

rdder clunk Ya we had that but it was an easy fix, also I helped a friend in Trinadad with his. We took the rudder off, you have to take the the steering quad off, and also loosen or remove the cables, just a tight job. While you are there check that the cable pulleys are properly attached...

    Freeze Warning Advice

Rick, you would not be sorry. It would only take about another week and a half if you didn't stop, but that's impossible because there are too many nice places to stop so it could be 2/3 months. Have a nice trip.

    Serious offshore cruising

Cruising no matter what boat My wife and I have been cruising sence 1997. We have encountered several E38's but no Cal40's. IMHO I think the Cal40 would make a good cruiser as long as you don't load her down too much. It's just a matter of what you require from a boat, just keep in mind she...

    E 36C Rudder Removal

rudder worries So, I did this just a few years ago in Venezuela, and a friend in Trinadad did his. I removed the rudder by lifting it up after taking the bolt out of the hinge. It took a line from the davits to the top of the rudder and 2 or 3 guys to guide it to the ground. The pin was oval...

Ericson 36C deck layout, rigging, and hardware?

36c paradise Matt; Good to see you are going to put another 36C back to work. I don't hit this site too often as there is not much interest in our boat and that's probably because they didn't make that many. Anyhow, I have owned and lived on my 36C for 34yrs and are now cruising as of 1997...

Comment by 'Sid' in media 'new.staysail.wing.and.wing'

Correct me if I'm wrong.looking at this photo it looks as if you are using the stay sail boom as a pole to hold out the jib. Never thought about it but with a small jib it looks like it works. In calm conditions I put genoa on one side stay sail on the other and main on the other. sounds weird...
