    PS E380 hatch knob replacement

Hi... I noticed that one of the female knobs of the cabin hatch is cracked. I checked the Bomar page and they have 2 sizes: 3/8 (p100-08) and 5/16 )P100-07). Does anybody knows the correct size? The boat is a 1997 PS E380. I am travelling and can't go to the boat to measure the size of the...

    Algae -X

I did a search on Algae X, and got just 2 hits. I am reading about this device, and although the claims are incredible, there is just something on the principle of operation that does't "jive". Any comments...??? Ismael S/V Erica of Falmouth E380:0305_alar

    Taking a 38-200 offshore

E-38 for offshore work. I agree with Rob, The PO of my E380 sailed across the Atlantic from the UK to the Caribbean. He definitely got equipment such as EPIRBS, Life raft, engine spare parts, GPS, and others. No expense was spared on safety and redundancy. The spade ruder is a liability...

    Cancer and fiberglass tanks

I spoke with my boat manager this weekend, and he commented that he read an informal survey done with cruiser, and there was a correlation to those cruisers with fiberglass tanks, and cancer. I will investigate this a bit further, but it seems it would be wise to install an activated charcoal...

    Black bilge water?

The black coloration and the rotten egg smell typical of bilge water (mine at least) is the result of anaerobic bacteria growing within the bilge environment. Keeping it dry, is the best. If not possible, adding a bit of bleach perodically (Bleach will oxidize quickly, so it does't last)...

    Cabin Sole Care

My cabin floor is in fairly good condition. However, there are areas close to sections in which installations were performed, showing scratches, and drops of epoxy resin. Any suggestions on: 1. Removing glue, epoxy and other glue-like residues. 2. Removing scratches. 3. Fixing small areas in...

How to pass Hoses, cables thru the innards of my Ericson

Hey Shaun, You are absolutely right, as the TFG effectively compartmentalizes the entire hull of the boat, including the bilge, so you have to cut holes in each section to pass whatever you want to pass. I'll check on my boat this weekend, and will let you know.. Best regards... Ismael S/v...

How to pass Hoses, cables thru the innards of my Ericson

I just discovered that my bilge pump is not working, so I installed a backup while the repair kit of the old one arrives. I think of leraving the temporary pump as a backup, but passing an additional hose thru the innards of the boat seems challenging. Any suggestions who to do this...

Repitching the 3-blade Maxprop underwater Well guys... I went to Tortola this week end, and consulted with Mr. Phil Oliver, from Antilles Yacht Management Ltd, Tortola, about repitching the Maxprop. We went through the schematics, and the specs from the boat, a Yanmar 3JH2E, clockwise...

    Overpitched Maxprop

Thank you very much. We can motor they way it is as long as the weather is calm. Otherwise, the boat struggles if the wind or the seas are high. I guess I'll wait until hurricane season haul out. ismael
