    Brinkmanship

Not getting stuck and fever The reason I bought a center board boat, even though I swore I never do it again, was I didn't want to worry about getting stuck. It's worked so far. I've trimmed the main using a little more effort on the halyard and out haul, and that appears to have improved...

    Brinkmanship

There have been a couple of days that being reefed almost felt too conservative but I admit my stress level goes way down knowing that I could be going faster but going comfortable is really nice and fun especially with the admiral aboard. I think what I miss is racing...I really enjoy making a...

    Brinkmanship

Sailing through the winter. So we never did pull Rainbowt out of the water, I know the bottom is well covered in some marine form of Kudzu, we have had too muchfun sailing and discovering how well this boat performs. We have been out at least once a month through this winter and looks like the...

    E- 25's and E-23's Centerboard

More Pics... I'm on the verge of pulling my e-23 out of the water next weekend. I would be interested in your "views" of the centerboard. Any commentary on actually how you do the job would be really appreciated. Thanks, Joe

    Brinkmanship

Finding wind Thanks all for the responses. And appreciate the correction on protocol (Admiral). Carmen's issue is not about sailing as she is eager to learn and more than willing to go out as often as our schedules allow, (work gets in the way of everything). Our relationship began by going...

    Brinkmanship

Back from the brink... Well that was fun...Noel blowing off the coast heading north pulled a nice steady wind with small white caps and rolling waves down the Pimlico river. I did not reef it. But found it difficult to keep her on the edge as my 1st mate (aka Carmen) was a little leary of water...

    Brinkmanship

Going out tomorrow. Forecast for 12-14 mph winds. Decreasing through midday into the evening. We are going out in our e-23cb mk2. As this is a new boat to me what can I expect. So far I really haven't been out in a nice breeze since we had her. Should I consider reefing the main or not worry. Joe

    E-23 Stuck-up centerboard

What if... Ok, So we've been thinking all week about what about this and all the permutations. If it's split open like a hot dog...agahhh... or jambed up by some marine life holding it up like a hostage. How we were going to build a cradle to work on it while we yanked the board out and...

    E-23 Stuck-up centerboard

This weekend's project I was hoping not to have to pull the boat out of the water yet. We had it out mid Sept and didn't have any problems. The PO sailed in a lake and kept it on the trailer in between lake trips. Our slip is in the Pamlico River which is brackish. I don't remember us hitting...

    E-23 Stuck-up centerboard

So last weekend we went out after having the boat in the slip for @3 weeks. Great weather, great wind, put the sails up killed the motor and tried to let the centerboard down, Nothing...When we got back I opened up the area where the centerboard line attaches to the wire line but that didn't...

    New e-23 owner, trailer question

Thanks for the feedback I think I'll leave the Safari alone. I would rather have my adventures moving Rainbow-t in the water. So how many e-23 owners are connected here? I think this is a great site and am looking forward to finding out more about this new boat of mine and what others are...

    New e-23 owner, trailer question

So I bought a 1975 e-23 #269. with what appears to be the original trailer. I used my son's Chevy truck to tow it and launch and the boat now is in a slip. I own a GMC Safari van with the 4l v6. Any opinions on anyones experience pulling and or towing with a similar vehicle? Joe
