1988 Ericson 38-200 for sale in Nadi, Fiji

1988 Ericson 38-200 for sale in Queensland, Australia Start your cruise on the beautiful east coast of Australia. The third owners of this beautiful Ericson 38-200 have reluctantly concluded that it is time to end our sailing adventures for now. We have owned her since 2002, and have cruised...

    Living aboard our E38

Hi Bryan, I do remember passing and waving to a northbound Ericson on our way around the peninsula that day. Thanks for the note! Hope we'll get to meet someday. Mark

    Tracking down a leak on E 38

transducer? I had a mysterious leak several years ago on our '88 38-200. It turned out to be a depth transducer, under the V-berth drawers. There is a liner there, and water was not visible from inside, but it was draining into the bilge between the hull and liner. We were only able to locate...

    Anchors for E 38-200

Our 38 came w/ a 33lb Bruce and we used it almost exclusively for 7 years in the PNW. The rest of the system is 150' of 5/16 G4 chain and a Lofrans windlass. Never had a problem with the Bruce, but decided to get a bigger anchor before heading to Mexico last year. We now carry a 55lb Rocna and...

    Living aboard our E38

All chain rode Dan, Windlass or dodger - tough choice - are you sure you can't do both? We have 150' of 5/16 HT chain, spliced to another 150' of nylon rode. Bow weight hasn't been an issue. Most folks seem to carry far more chain, but this has been adequate so far. But then, we haven't had to...

Reefer compressor Will, We have an Adler-Barbour Cold Machine w/ compressor and condensor mounted in the starboard cockpit locker, far forward end, on a raised shelf. I figured this was the stock installation. It has functioned very well so far.

    Living aboard our E38

re: return to PNW Hi Ellen, Although we are having a wonderful time, we don't want to do this year-round. We will store the boat somewhere down here for hurricane season (still deliberating on location). We are looking forward to spending summer at home in Oregon, and doing some road trips...

    Living aboard our E38

Solar panels Hi Will, We mounted 2 85w panels atop the bimini. I tried to upload a picture that shows how they are mounted, but the link didn't work. Note that we replaced the lifelines between the stern pulpit and gates with solid rails. We probably could have fit 135w panels instead, but I...

    Living aboard our E38

Hi Will, 1. Our house bank is 4 T-125 golf cart batts in the starboard cockpit locker (250AH); we have 2 Group 31 AGMs under the forward settee for another 210AH - these are only used for anchor windlass and as backup cranking batts 2. The shower wand is in the port lazarette next to the...

    Living aboard our E38

My wife and I have been living aboard our E38 for the past 7 months now, cruising from Oregon down the California coast to Mexico. We have been as far south as Manzanillo, and are now headed north towards the Sea of Cortez for spring. We didn't really envision doing a cruise of this length...

    SF Bay 08/02

a different E38 on the bay Hi Jay, It wasn't us you saw, but we sailed under the Gate about 11:30 AM on Saturday the 22nd. Our first time here. What an experience entering the bay after a few weeks on the outside. Made me grin to see so many sailors enjoying so much wind! We'll be in Sausalito...

    Our first time sailing here

We just sailed our E38 under the Gate after a 3-week trip down the coast from Newport, OR. Anyone wanting to share stories or drinks in the cockpit, we'll be at Schoonmaker Point for a few days before continuing south. What a wonderful place to sail. You folks are lucky!

    Solar panels

We recently installed 2 85w panels on top of our bimini. This was the best location we could devise, but note that our radar casts a shadow across one panel for at least part of the day. OTOH, the radar mount provided an easy path for routing the wires from the solar panels down to the hull...

racing spinnaker for sale (E38 or ?)

North 3/4 oz tri-radial w/ ATN snuffer, 3 guys/sheets. Came with the boat, we have never used it. It is like new (crispy!). I've been told the dimensions (L/L=45'6", F=25'2") aren't regulation for our E38. For pictures, go to: http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/boa/1117939488.html
