info on late model Ericson 28s?

Congratulations Hi Josh, Congratulations on your new boat! I have a 1982 28+, and I just love it. The quality of the workmanship that went into these boats is terrific. I'm constantly comparing the construcion of my boat with others in our club. The Ericson comes out ahead most of the time (and...

Hot water tank drainage or removal

Hi Everyone, I've been busy preparing my 28+ for the winter. Does anyone have a preferred way of draining the hot water tank? The tank is rather loose in it's mount (another jfix-it job to do:)), so I can shake it a bit. It doesn't feel like there's water in the tank, but I want to be sure...

    Bilge Pump Valve

Excellent points You make an excellent point Greg. I probably should have been clearer in my post. I didn't just wrap the hose, but the entire original strainer that was in the bilge, so the effective area of the strainer is still in use. I did find a small piece of what I assume was the...

    Bilge Pump Valve

    Bilge Pump Valve

I had a similar problem with my Whale Gusher pump on the trip home to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario from Waukegan, Illinois, where I bought the boat last fall. The pump would prime ok, but would lose it's prime after a couple of strokes. We had that thing apart at least 7 or 8 times. It was always...

how big of a 4-stroke do I need?

I agree with the high-thrust 8 or 9.9 motor. Aside from my Ericson, I also own a Pearson 26 (about 5300#), and it has a Yamaha 8 hp high-thrust long shaft. It's a terrific motor. I can reach hull speed at less than half throttle, and motor for hours and hardly burn any fuel. I think you'd be...

    New Owner of 28+

Hello everyone, I'm very happy to be a new Ericson owner. I'm also happy to be a part of such a helpful and enthusiastic group! I just recently purchased a 1981 Ericson 28+. At least I think it's a 28+. Are there specific distinguishing features that identify the 28+ from a regular Ericson 28...
