Hello All: What size and where can I purchase a replacement crush washer for the drain plug on my ZF 10 transmission. Universal 25XP, 1988 E-32-3. Thanks in advance!

    Crunch crunch in gear....

Another thought: I once had a zinc slide down the shaft until it rubbed against the forward edge of the strut. It made a sort of grinding sound when in gear at idle and was lost in the engine noise at higher throttle settings. It could also be heard when sailing with the gear box in neutral...

    32-200 Fixed Port

I rebedded mine about 8 years ago. Used clear silicone for the glass and 3M 101 on the frame. Still leak free. JG '88 E32-3

    Racor Water Seperator Filter Cartridge

My local marine supply store is no longer stocking Racor R24S filters because "my diesel guy says the 2 micron filter is causing fuel starvation problems." The store is only offering the 10 micron filters. I've been using only 2 micron filters since forever on my 25XP. What say you? Shall...

    Larger Batteries in 32-3?

I have an '88 32-3 and did exactly as Dan did. I installed the T-125s ten years ago in a Blue Seas box designed specifically for golf cart batteries. As of this season, I need to replace those batteries. I figure I got my money's worth out of them...

    Replace the water heater

I pulled mine out of my '88 32-3. To do so, I pulled all the trimwork off above the portside engine access panel. That gave me about a half inch to spare.

    Flag halyard replacement

I don't get it. Why a continuous line? Mine has a snap hook at each end. One for the top of the burgee, one for the bottom. What am I missing?

    Mast shakes violently!

I think you are getting what may be referred to as pumping. If you sight up the mast you will see it pumping fore and aft near the mid-section or just above the lower spreaders. My 32-3 does it when the wind is coming from either side of the bow, not when dead to wind. Solution: I put a bit...

Useful Life of Universal Diesel Engines?

Remove dip stick, wipe clean, insert dipstick, remove dipstick, check oil level on stick. Mine stick is always dry when checking. That's what happens when you reach a certain age...

    Bottom paint for frequent cleaning?

In Greenwich Cove the growth was also very bad. I use one coat of Micron CSC and have it scrubbed every three weeks. It barely lasts the season but that also makes spring prep a bit easier. I did hear that Vivid was holding up to the diver's scrubbing better than Micron.

    Winter mast take down

After pulling mine every year since I bought the boat (14 years ago), this will be the first year that I leave it in. Most owners leave them in in our area and the trend is for even more to do so since the cost to remove, store and step increased from $125 to $500 two years ago. My original...

    Shaft Packing Gland Nut Size

I know I might get some guff for this but... I use two LARGE channel lock pliers to free mine. First time I did use lots of Liquid Wrench repeatedly applied over a few days before I went at it. "Yes, she's a b*tch but she does what I want if I'm patient."

    Spreader shift

I discovered the cause of this exact situation on my 32-3 to be the tang? that the spreader fits over at its base. Over time, the tang? got bent slightly upwards when the mast was stored out of the boat for the winter. With shrouds removed, I gently pulled down on the spreader and bent the...
