    Fiberglass Water Buckets

Thanks for the pics Robert. I've finished filling in the pans with a "pancake" of foam boards and epoxy. After it cured I took and poured water into all the pans. Any place water was still standing I leveled off with epoxy. Hopefully, I'll never have a water issue with these pans again...

Pictures of drain plugs in bilge

I'm not saying seal the hole, just seal the unfinished edges of the fiberglass that could hold moisture.

Pictures of drain plugs in bilge

I have no clue why someone would put those plugs in, but Loren's guess seems very plausible to me. To keep the bilge smell to a minimum. I'd rough up the limber holes using a dremel tool and sanding drum then use epoxy (my choice) or bilge paint and a small paint brush to seal in that smell...

    Stringer Question E35-II 1979

I don't know for sure, but I always thought a stringer is one of the horizontal white fiberglass structures you see here in the photo of the floor. The stringer gives support to the whole hull fiberglass hull structure by "stringing" the sides together. Stringers are not unique to Ericson...

    Bilge Pump Recommendations

Had this pump for only a short time - no built in screen - anything in bilge will get sucked up into pump - burn it out - like mine. I bought a Rule instead. Has a removable metal screen - much better pump: http://www.rule-industries.com/products/pumps/bilge_pumps/rule_700750/iid_239/index.htm...

Ericson 38 Water beneath the pan?

Here's where I think it went.... I have the sole ripped out right now and there are numerous "pans" that can collect water. None of the pans have any drain holes, the water just sits there untill it evaporates or you heel far enough :egrin: Check this out for more info - if it helps...

    Companionway opening - Lexan?

So to keep everyone up to date, I got a response back from Clear Cut Plastics. A ½” smoked acrylic piece cut to the largest dimensions (for me that's 26 5/16” x 23 1/8”) would be $136.75 plus packaging and shipping. That price does not include cutting it down and tapering it to 24 2/4” at the...

    Companionway opening - Lexan?

I did use the original hatchboards to make th drawing, being very careful with my measurements. But you do make a good point. I will now mock it up in cardboard first and check it for fit. Thanks!!!

    Companionway opening - Lexan?

Will do - working with two shops: Midland Plastics over in New Berlin and one the web, Clear Cut Plastics. I have supplied both with a cad drawing in order to get an accurate quote. I can't attach either to this post, but they are available here: hatch.dwg hatch.dxf I did attach a pdf of...

    Companionway opening - Lexan?

You could try either of these two out: http://www.clearcutplastics.com/marine.htm http://www.selectplastics.com/ I'm trying to get a quote from a local place right now for the same thing. But if they are to high, I'll try one of these two. I attached pics of what I want mine to look like (...

    Fiberglass Water Buckets

There is really no room in these areas not to mention anything you store in there needs to be waterproof. Also you can't mind if it gets a coat of diesel film on it.
