Mastboot self bonding tape is what I bought to replace the old "tape". Noted on the pro-tip to go bottom to top, that's how I would've applied it as well.

Noticed my gooseneck has similar problem today. Was this ever resolved, and the fix is by reinforcing it w/ additional material? Wondering if anyone has replaced just gooseneck itself (black part)?
Yep, all 4 leads are working, key switch in IGN: gauge lights up, same circuit goes to (+), voltage registering, ground goes to ground-bus. Tact is a brand new tact from defender.com. Debating if I want to go grab another new tach, or put my tach into some other system to test.
Was the answer I was hoping for, which is the "easier" way of doing things.
I guess trying to separate what "must be bled" i.e. fuel line, v.s. what doesn't i.e. engine oil, coolant, transmission fluid.
