    The real scoop on dewinterization?

The list from the PO refers to "dewinterizing", which seems to be limited to undoing the winterization steps and is therefore rather short. In the spring I typically think of the list of chores as spring commissioning, which includes a lot of routine maintenance that is good to do every year...

West Marine Winch "BOGO" starts 2-29

It looks like this cross references takes the approach of matching the diameter, which will give me more power. As noted above, not a bad thing. But it is amazing how the price goes up exponentially.

West Marine Winch "BOGO" starts 2-29

I just saw the BOGO announcement and am thinking of finally upgrading my 35 year old Barient primaries. Has anyone done this on an E38-200? The current winches are Barient 32ST. Looking at the specs the Lewmar 65ST is a close match from a diameter perspective so might fit well. But the 65ST...

Raymarine i50 Depth instrument with existing transducer.

I realize I've got the i70 so that's why the iTC5 worked for me.

Raymarine i50 Depth instrument with existing transducer.

Also to mention the iTC5 will also convert wind and speed data, so if you are also faced with decisions on upgrading these components this will address all and allow it all to be networked into a fully integrated system.

Need a Replacement E-38 Propeller, Two-Blade or Three

If you're still looking, I've got a 2 blade folding Martec that I just replaced last year with a 3 blade Flexofold. I would expect it should work for you.

Raymarine i50 Depth instrument with existing transducer.

Take a look at the Raymarine iTC5 converter. This will allow you to use an old transducer on the new Raymarine network. I installed it during my upgrade and my old transducer works fine with the new system.

Starter button does not always work

I have had the same problem recurring over the years. Over time I've replaced the starter switch, key switch, rebuilt the starter motor, and most recently re-spliced loose wire connections. I believe they all were contributors to the problem at some point along the journey. Today all is...

    Design and Functionality Question E38

I have a later model E38-200 and these do not exist. It that place is a standard opening hatch. So whatever they are it seems they were not considered mission critical.

Do you manage/switch house vs. starter batteries?

I use an automatic charging relay which combines the batteries when charging, but automatically separates them when not charging. The house bank is dedicated to only house loads and the starter battery is only for starting. The switch is on/off/both. In the On position they are connected as...

    Best lakes in GA

Lake Lanier will be your best bet in the Atlanta area. I sailed there once and had a great day, but I believe the summer winds can be light. The lake is large, not Great Lake large, but a nice place to enjoy your E-27 within a short drive from Atlanta. There are a good number of sailboats, so...

Treat interior wood for winter storage?

I store my boat in NJ out of the water and covered for the winter. To control mold I try to remove everything I can that would provide a good mold growth surface. This means unneeded paper, blankets, towels, cushions, etc. Then I open all bins, cupboards, etc to allow some level of air...

    CNG refills

I will share a story I heard from the dealer this summer when exchanging my CNG tank. I asked why it has become so difficult to find CNG exchange. She explained that CNG is plentiful, of course. The problem is the tanks we use are hard to come by. As they go through the exchange process the...

    Loose Footed Main

I agree with the previous comments on loose footed main. I've had one for years and it works well. Regarding the stack pack, on my E38-200 I do it the old fashion way with no lazy jacks, stack packs, dutchman, etc. I just drop the main and flake it by hand on the boom. I've found this...
