    fuel filter priming

I have a NAPA spin-on filter water serperator, located near the tank. Changed it last week. Nothing to it, no need to do anything special. One of the good things about the gas engines is they aren't so fussy about bleeding air out like a deisel. That's a whole different story. Good luck...

    Reversing Tips Wanted

Taz, I have an E29, A-4, tiller steering, 2 blade fixed prop, and have had the same experience. Backing is right next to impossible! I would agree that a short burst of power is the best technique. I thought it was just me until started asking more questions and found out that it is a common...

    E29 Rudder Question

E-29 Rudder As long as the thump doesn't drive you nuts, shouldn't be any problem with waiting untill you haul out. Love to see a picture of the extension. Enjoy, Dave G

    E29 Rudder Question

E-29 Rudder Welcome to the E-29 club. I have owned an a 1971 E-29 tiller model for about 4 years. I had the same sloopy rudder problem you describe. It can be a bit unnerving in a heavy blow. I found 2 problems on my boat. First the the rudder fitting that connects the tiller to the rudder...

    Internal Halyard Conversion

Halyard Question Randy, I did cut holes in the top of the masthead aligned with the sheaves. My E-29 has 4 sheeves, 2 forward and 2 aft, to convert to internal I temprarily removed the sheeves, drilled through the top of the mast, between the sheeves, which allowed me to reroute the halyards...

    Internal Halyard Conversion

Warning Against Plasma Cutter While a plasma cutter works great for cutting aluminum, I would strongly recomend NOT using it on your mast. Plasma cutters blow a lot of slag when they cut, if you were cutting the exit slots it would blow a lot of slag inside the mast, which would be difficult to...

2007 NW Ericson Rendezvous - Discussion

I agree, the weekend after Fathers Day would be much better. For people with kids there would be fewer end of school year conflicts. We didn't make the '06 event for that reason. Dave Green E-29 Spirit Bellingham

    ericson 29

Hi Taz, We run about 5 - 5.5 knots and burn between 3/4 and 1 gallon per hour. We have the stock 2 blade fixed prop which I feel is not the ideal prop, I think it limits max rpm to around 1700. Higher rpm results it higher fuel consumption, runs a little hotter and doesn't give much more...

2007 NW Ericson Rendezvous - Discussion

Schedule and Location We didn't make it this year because of a conflict with our sons high school graduation. Personnaly I think it's a great way to spend Fathers day, but I understand that it creates a problem for some. I would vote for one week later to avoid the end of school schedule...

Diesel Fuel Tank- Aluminum, Stainless or Plastic?

I could not find a plastic tank to fit the spot I had for the water tank, so I went with custom stainless steel. I built the stainless water tank myself. Dave G

Diesel Fuel Tank- Aluminum, Stainless or Plastic?

More thoughts on tank material I have worked with a local metal fab company the specializes in tanks and food processing equipment. They built my fuel tank and water tank. Their recommendations are aluminum for fuel, both gas and diesel. The advantage of aluminum is it's lighter weight and...
