Installation of garboard drain in bilge

Excellent, Eric, and courageous! Congratulations! I have a neighbor in the marina (non-Ericson) who did the same, and I am in awe. How did you get the pilot holes to 'find' each other?

When should I consider replacing my standing rigging?

Last full job was 2000 in Annapolis at Chesapeake Rigging, and we're in line now for another one (minus the mast painting) at Norwalk Cove Marina/CT. New Harken Unit 2 for good measure. I'll do a write-up when we're done... -Chris E34 #267 (1988) Dangriga

Full rig job in Norwalk, CT?

19 years and lots of crazy weather after the last replacement (Annapolis, Chesapeake Rigging) I am now looking at Norwalk CT for the next project. Standing, wiring, etc. The full program. Any experience with Norwalk Cove Marina and their rigging company? Thanks! Chris E34 Dangriga #267 1988

34-2 Michigan prop size / pitch

On my Maxprop 3 blade, Settings E and H. Perhaps you can find the pitch on the PYI site. I've been using that for 20 years. E34.

    E34 Engine Pull and Refurbishment

With all preparation, everything disconnected, it wasn't too long. Maybe an hour out and an hour back? All about having the right person below, one on the halyard/outhaul and one to guide. Still running great and no regrets! ;-)

    Sterling regulator

Thanks Thanks! Great input and in my files now! Unfortunately this has now slipped to #2 (or higher) on my list, having just 'rescued' a 1978 Dyer Midget! Trying to bring her back to near-Bristol condition. Oh, and then there is the sailing season coming up too, hopefully...

    Sterling regulator

Most excellent choice of stimulants, Tom. No worries. Just trying to keep you excited. Enjoy the party and the trip. After the other suggestions I'll look into it some more. Comes down to removal of the existing regulator and making sure that the new setup doesn't fry the alternator or...

    Sterling regulator

51 views and no reply, not even from Tom Metzger? :-) I'll investigate a bit more, but now I am distracted again by the new 40 year old Dyer Midget I just bought... ;-)

    Sterling regulator

I read this recent article by Niger Calder about Sterling regulators. One of the big mags. Who would have thought? Essence: don't go fancy on alternators or batteries, use to the MAX what you have. As usual great writing. I did a bit of searching in the archives, but nothing popped out...

    Propane system overhaul on E38-200

On my list We've been working (and sailing) hard, and this is now on or near the top of my list. Everything other than the Force10 will go! Simple. I don't even want to look at the stamp on my tank, and it takes ever greater amounts of chocolate to get it filled...

    E34 Engine Pull and Refurbishment

Pictures Engine (Part 2) Pictures of the engine hanging for parts etc. Engine scrubbed and primed Engine with my son just before we hooked it up to test run. He loved the look as you can tell! Engine back in the boat with the chains still attached (see earlier picture). Note the utensils I...

    E34 Engine Pull and Refurbishment

Pictures systems and electrical Ok. Here are a few 'after' pictures of the systems panel in the engine room (stbd side), the main engine control terminal strip not fully connected yet(port side), the assembled panel (front and back) and a little detail of the lazarette before the wiring began...

    E34 Engine Pull and Refurbishment

Final update Well, it took a while, but everything happened as planned and came out great! I am still gathering pictures to transfer them to the site, but here is a quick summary of what seemed to have been my life since we pulled the engine: - With very few exceptions all the Messick's...

    E34 Engine Pull and Refurbishment

Flywheel and Damper To update my previous post: Turns out the damper plate that was mounted on the flywheel (Sachs 1866-050-002; 10 teeth, 23x29-10N hub; Diameter 122mm) cannot be replaced by anything R&D. Old picture attached. R&D needs more diameter to have a big-enough poly... disk...

    E34 Engine Pull and Refurbishment

Update Ahhh, the joys of ownership. We're making good progress, or so I keep telling myself. Most of the Kubota parts actually fit the engine (parts list forthcoming), however two areas are causing more than the usual headaches: - Damper plate: The old plate inside the flywheel had a lot...
