    Why the name Ericson?

Thank you Mr. King for the response. I knew I would find valuable and even conections to primary sources here! And re-reading my initial thread I regret using the word "marketing gimmick" (which I initially spelled wrong)...this implies trickery and deception, which is not the intent of a...

    Why the name Ericson?

I'm coming up to my one year ownership of a 1985 32-3. I've been thinking of changing the name of the boat and thought about a name with a Nordic flair to it. That got me thinking about the origins of the name Ericson and the classic viking helmet. Does anyone know why? Was it just a...

    V-belt Tension

Thanks for the confidence boost Bruce. After lots of reading and googling today I'm going to attempt the job. My boat is a 1985 32-3, #627. I assume the parts are the same as yours, Universal 25M, Kubota D850. Will confirm tomorrow after a trip to the boat. This is a new boat for me (first...

    V-belt Tension

I was able to figure out how to tension the belt...thank you. The pulley circled in red still has some play to it. I can see it wobble on its axis ever so slightly. And when it does I can hear the screeching sound similar to a loose belt. It's not terrible, but also doesn't seem right...

    V-belt Tension

Christian when you say you use a “2x4 or crowbar” where do you apply the pressure? I’m new to this job and trying to figure out how to tighten. I Assume u loosen the alternator arm to move the alternator out a bit. Do u “gently” hammer down on the arm? That seems wrong and probably is...

    Icebox and head bilge

Awesome...thank you for the information. And Christian, thanks for the links to thr 32 docs, will print and read them. I'm headed out sailing today and will try to trace and understand plumbing based on my new information. Dave C

    Icebox and head bilge

Hello All, I'm the new owner (about 4 months) of a 1985 32-3. I've posted some questions before I purchased the boat and the feed back was invaluable, I'm hoping for more of the same. The owner was an absentee owner, so I didn't get to ask him all the little intricacies of the boat. How...

    E32-3 keel/hull connection

Thanks for all the replies and insight. The knowledge and willingness to help form members of this site is one of the reasons that sold me on Ericsons. I spend hours looking at information available here. I used to be a C&C owner and they have what I thought was an informative owners website...

    E32-3 keel/hull connection

Thanks Christian for the link on uploading a picture. Can’t quite figure out how to rotate photo but I’ll work on that. Problem is certainly attributed to my computer illiteracy and not your directions!

    E32-3 keel/hull connection

I just had a 1985 E32-3 surveyed and I was hoping someone could give me some insight on the keel/hull connection. There is the very common “smile” at the connection, but this “smile” runs the full circumference of the keel. The surveyor said I should definitely get this fixed. Either fair a...

    E32-3 keel options

Thanks for replies. The best approach is probably to go with whichever boat "you" like the best, regardless of keel. Would still love to hear from someone who actually has the winged keel version...just to get a primary source opinion.

    E32-3 keel options

I’m looking at two E32-3 sailboats. One has regular fin keel and the other is wing. I always said I would’t buy a boat with a draft over 5’5 because of obvious limitations. I sail on the Great Lakes (draft usually not a problem but limited at some marinas while cruising, especially in the...
