    Ericson 27 roller furling

Before you measure your pin to pin, be sure your rig is turned fore and aft where you want it as most units are not easily adjusted for head stay length once installed. When I purchased my 76 E-27, the mast was plumb when the previous owner installed the North furler. The book calls for about a...

Fortress anchor size for 1973 E27

I used a Fx-16 on a pearson 303 and an Islander 32. On both boats it held well in conditions up to the 30 kn range (never anchored in condtions above that). The anchor was never deeply enbedded. I don't know if you have used one before, but I found them a real pain to set - too light. They want...

    E-27 fuel tank

I have a 76 E-27 with the split cockpit and unfortunately a leaky fuel tank. In searching the threads, I found 1 listing for a retro fit tank as the original tank will only come out with the assistance of a sawsall. The tank that was suggested, had a depth of only 7". That seems to me to asking...

    E-27 window leaks

I am sure I saw a listing for replacement fixed window gaskets but I do not seem to be able to find it on search. Does any one remember where it was available. May be am just having a senior moment (far to young for that). I have found the tape for the frame to cabin seal, but not the glass to...

    electric auxiliary power

A few weeks ago on E-bay, there was an E27 from Port Ludlow Wa. listed with electric power. As I remember, they said it would do about 5 kts. with a 5 hour range. Maybe some one saw this listing and can add to my memory. Bill Hearsey E 27 - Little Rosscoe

    Roller Furling

I have had roller furling on all 4 boats that I have owned. Three I added it and 1 came with it. It's not a big deal to do it. As others have said, add to new head stay (my Furlex came with one in the kit - my favorite of the 3 types I've had). As far as converting, an existing sail (if...

Sailing performance of E27? Bad rumor?

Having sailed on both boats, I think you will find the Cal a little faster in light air and the Ericson better in heavy air. I looked up the NE PHRF rating and they show the Cal base rating 207 and the E-27 at 231. Remember the biggest factor in winning races, is crew and not just boat speed...

    Anchor Stowage

I am also thinking of installing an anchor locker in the fore peak area. Did you need to do any thing about drainage or is the enough as it is designed. I also carry the same amount of anchor line. I do not like having to worry about my anchor holding all night. Bill Hearsey SV Little Rosscoe
